Project for the Google UX/UI certification course.
Goal: design a houseplant/garden care app
Currently in-progress
Initial research + User interviews
In lieu of user interviews and testing, I trained several AI programs to act as my users to conduct interviews.
These interviews confirmed my initial research and direction.
DIRECTION: Users want a plant-care app they can customize
Competitive Audit
Scrutinizing competition and looking for opportunities.
To list gaps plainly:
Price, Limited care routines, Customization of routines, Customization of notifications, AI & ID features could be driving price but not adding enough extra value, Don’t allow users to have the app conform to their experience
There may be an opportunity for an app that is:
Inexpensive
Offers customization
Is aimed at people who want to set their own schedules
This confirms my initial research that there is a market for an app that allows for someone to do their own outside research and input that knowledge into an app that is focused on giving reminders and storing & organizing their plants and info.
Not all plants of the same species need the same care routine depending on location, climate, and other factors. An app that acknowledges this could bring something new to the table. This would also allow the user to connect their own experience to the app, which seems like something that is desired.
This could potentially leave out newer users if it is not handled well. There still needs to be suggested care and good info.
A cheap app that was focused on organization, custom routines, journaling, and adding custom info could be useful.
